These little mini pies make a lovely lazy morning breakfast. Full of spiced apples and the crust is remarkable silky, yet flaky. The almonds add a crunchy dimension to the soft apples.

Guac -n- Mole

There is a myriad of ways to make guacamole. My "go to" recipe changes through out the years. With the advent of breaking my small motar and pestle and buying an oversized one online, I've gone with this method. In this recipe for one reason or another (maybe just felt like trying it?) I reached for the spice mix Hole Mole. Hole Mole adds that bit of chili flavor and a breath of dark chocolate that is surprisingly a natural with the avocado.

Wonderfully simple dessert to make that can be packed in a lunch or carried on a hike. Rich and flaky crust really means they should be eaten outside. Plan on making them on the next family picnic.

Spice Pastry Cream

This is a Spice of Life Organics spin off of a classic pastry cream. However I always crave more flavor. The Cardamom and Nutmeg add that memorable pizzazz. This makes enough to fill 1 dozen small cream puffs or 6 huge ones that weigh more than a .... well you fill in the blank. At any rate you get 1 cup of Pastry Cream.

Being very mindful about additional sugar in our diets from "store bought" summer drinks we enjoy making lemonade the old fashioned way. The best lemonade we ever had was made from just the yellow part of the lemon rind itself with lemon juice too. That yellow part makes a wonderful winter tea as well. In this recipe we infused it with the ever present mint that grows in well watered shady place in our yard. The use of Agave Nectar is an excellent choice for people that need to maintain a low glycemic diet. It adds sweet without flavor or harmful chemicals.

Spiced Chocolate Chip Cookies

Every once a while I get challenged to create something tasty that meets a dietary restriction. This time was for a couple of dear friends that absolutely do not touch anything with alcohol. I generally cook with vanilla, but what are cookies without a little touch of something exotic? This is a basic chocolate chip recipe, but instead of vanilla I used cardamom & cloves (Spices they can get in their country.) This is for Mensure & Kaltrina! They loved these cookies on hikes or just because.

Herbed Pizza Crust

This recipe comes from Brenda Meyers from Odessa, TX. This is her "go to" pizza crust recipe that never fails to delight the taste buds.
"Oh yeah, in the summer I go straight to the grill, I don’t mess around with heating up my kitchen with a hot oven.  No pizza stone on the grill, I just use a Pizza peel to get it on and off.  I guess you could use a stone though, I just never have."

My mom had a nifty yogurt maker with little bitty cups. Now we eat pints of yogurt and I cook East Indian food with it as well as use it in baked goods. Those little cups weren't my choice.
