We got caught in a food rut. This wonderful Sloppy Joe inspired dish was impetuously good and just made from basic ingredients in the pantry. Could be a weekly treat!

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 15 mins
  • Yields: 2 Adults only no left overs (dang!)

1/2 lbs. Lean Ground Beef (AKA Hamburger)

1/2 Small Onion thickly chopped

4 Medium Cloves of Garlic chopped (keep it chunky)

2 Tbs. Roasted Red Bell Pepper cut in strips half inch long

2-3 tsp. Gator Holler Cajun Seasoning

1 oz. Can of Tomato Sauce

1 tsp. Brown Sugar

2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

Hamburger Buns!

1Heat a medium sized skillet and brown and break up the Lean Ground Beef. If you get a good lean ground, you may not have to drain it from the fat. If you have a lot of fat coming off, drain it when the meat is cooked most of the way through.

2Add Onions & Garlic and cook till half cooked through.

3Add the Roasted Red Bell Pepper and Gator Holler Cajun Seasoning (to taste)

4Pour in Can of Tomato Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce and sprinkle the Brown Sugar in.

5Simmer down till thick.

6Serve open faced with Some Slaw on top with pickles on the side

I happened to have fully red Anaheim chilies that were vine ripened. They still have a sweet yet earthy bell pepper flavor that added a delightful sweet note to a spicy dish.
