Every once a while I get challenged to create something tasty that meets a dietary restriction. This time was for a couple of dear friends that absolutely do not touch anything with alcohol. I generally cook with vanilla, but what are cookies without a little touch of something exotic? This is a basic chocolate chip recipe, but instead of vanilla I used cardamom & cloves (Spices they can get in their country.) This is for Mensure & Kaltrina! They loved these cookies on hikes or just because.

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Cook: 15 mins
  • Yields: about 36 balls of knee buckling goodness

1 Cup Sugar (I used raw organic)

2 Eggs

1 Cup Butter Softened (2 sticks)

1 tsp. Salt

1/4 tsp. Cardamom

1/4 tsp. Cloves

2-1/2 Cups Flour

1 tsp. Baking Soda

4 oz. Chocolate Chips (more maybe?... hahahahahaha)

1Get a medium sized bowl.

2Cream together sugar, eggs, butter, salt, Cardamom & Cloves

3Add Flour & Baking Soda.

4Mix together till thoroughly blended.

5Stir in chocolate chips.

6Set oven to 375º F (190º C)

7Grab bits enough to form a 1" ball and roll tight in your palms.

8Arrange on increased cookie sheet. There is plenty of butter in the mix to keep them from sticking.

9They don't spread much to they can be placed about 1 inch apart.

10Bake 15 minutes.

11Eat in moderation. Well, maybe not!
